JACK R. LAMB

Jack R. Lamb was elected to the Hillsborough County School Board (District 3) in 2000, was re-elected in 2004, and again in 2008 without opposition.  He served as school board chair in 2007 and as vice-chair in 2006.  He is one of seven members responsible for making policy decisions and overseeing a $3 billion budget for the 8th largest school district in the nation, which is also the county’s largest employer with 25,000 employees. 

Dr. Lamb has served as executive director of the Hillsborough County Association of School Administrators; an adjunct professor at the University of Florida, University of Tampa, and Nova Southeastern University; a guest lecturer at the University of Florida; an intern supervisor at Nova Southeastern University; and a teacher and administrator for Pinellas and Hillsborough County public schools. He taught elementary, adult, and exceptional student education. He has also served as a consultant to school districts, universities, and organizations in 10 states and Ontario, Canada.

He earned his B.S. degree in elementary education from the University of Tampa, his M.Ed. degree from the University of Florida, and his Ed.D. degree from Syracuse University.

Jack served as the 2005-2006 president of the Florida School Boards Association (FSBA), and is the only person to serve as president of both FSBA and the Florida Association of School Administrators (FASA).  He currently represents the School Board as an FSBA legislative liaison, on the Tampa Museum of Art Education Committee, and on the Straz Performing Arts Center. He also has served as a member and officer of FASA; Florida Association of Instructional Supervisors and Administrators; local, state, and national chapters of the Council for Exceptional Children; state and national chapters of the Council for Administrators of Special Education; and Phi Delta Kappa. He is co-founder, and has served as secretary/treasurer of the Florida Coalition for the Education of Exceptional Students and was founding chair of FSBA’s Florida Learning First Alliance.  The Kappa Delta Pi education fraternity named him Outstanding Educator of the Year.

Dr. Lamb also had extensive community involvement over the years, including USF Latino Advisory Committee, the St. Lawrence Catholic School board, and the Ybor City Rotary. His wife, Nora, is a retired Hillsborough County schoolteacher, and his daughter is a district administrator.  Jack and Nora have three children and four grandchildren.
