CAROL W. KURDELL

Carol W. Kurdell was elected to the School Board (District 7 – at-large) in 1992, and re-elected in 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008.  Mrs. Kurdell served as School Board Chair in 2009.  She also served as Chair in 2002-03 and 1996-97.  She is one of seven members responsible for making policy decisions and overseeing a budget of $3.1 billion for the 8th largest school district in the nation, which is also the county’s largest employer with more than 25,000 employees. 

Mrs. Kurdell is a Tampa native and a product of Hillsborough County Public Schools. She has served as president of the Hillsborough County Parent-Teacher Association and has a wide range of civic involvement.  She is the recipient of awards in areas of education ambassador, dedication, and public relations, and received the Mayor’s Brotherhood/Sisterhood Award for Outstanding Community Service.

Mrs. Kurdell holds a BA degree in Human Development from Eckerd College.

She represents the School Board on the Healthy Start Coalition, the Value Adjustment Board, the Glazer Children’s Museum Board, and the Hillsborough County Department of Children’s Services Advisory Board.
