The School Board is committed to doing business with contractors, vendors and other suppliers who reflect the great diversity of our community (see the District Policy).
The School Board is committed to doing business with contractors, vendors and other suppliers who reflect the great diversity of our community. It is the policy of the School Board to promote and attain that diversity by encouraging and facilitating the participation of small businesses, including those which are woman and minority owned, in every aspect of the School Board’s procurement activities. The Superintendent will promulgate procedures which insure identification of available small businesses, provide notification to such businesses of all available business opportunities, encourage contractors to use small businesses in the bid and proposals, guarantee fair and equal treatment of such businesses and track and review the participation of such businesses in School Board work. The procedures will fully comply with all applicable constitutional and legal requirements. All suppliers will be chosen without regard to race, national origin, sex or other protected characteristic.
About the Office of Supplier Diversity
The Board of Hillsborough County Public School District’s formalized the first program of providing equal business opportunities to small, women, and minority businesses in 1989. After a series of revisions and changes to the program, the Office of Supplier Diversity (OSD) was renamed in 2001 to function as a one-stop center that directs and monitors the District’s goal of creating and utilizing a diverse group of small business vendors.
The OSD provides communication, advice and support to small, women, and minority owned businesses regarding participation in the District’s procurement process and facilitates communication with other District departments. The OSD uses the comments, and concerns, of registered vendors and District leadership and staff, to assist in the development of policy, practices, and opportunity identification enhancing the District’s outreach efforts.
