Dear Parents:

Hillsborough County Public Schools offers a variety of school choice options under the umbrella of Hillsborough Choice Options. Since introducing our first magnet schools, we have added more career and technical education opportunities, so that families can make choices based on students' interests and talents. Our district also offers Hillsborough Virtual School, and charter schools, as well as Hillsborough Choice, in which students can make choices from among traditional public schools.

We encourage students to expand their horizons and take advantage of the many programs offered. It's easy to go to the school closest to your home, but we encourage students and parents to delve further into the programs we offer at other schools to see if there is a course of study that fits your unique interests.

Parents have many options from which to choose. Students attending The Collegiate Academies at Armwood, Lennard, and Leto can receive an Associate of Arts degree while in high school by taking college courses during their school day. Buchanan, Greco, Madison, and McLane middle schools all have the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) program, which includes hands-on aerospace, astronautics, biotechnology, engineering and robotics instruction. At the elementary level, there are STEM, arts, international baccalaureate, and many other themes available to interest your student.

I'm convinced that our students' academic achievement continues to rise because we allow them the freedom to choose programs that interest them. Our goal is to deliver excellence in education by allowing families to choose traditional school, magnet school, charter school, virtual school, or career education.

Please spend some time reviewing the many opportunities offered through Hillsborough County Public Schools’ Choice Options. This website is designed to fully inform you about school choice and magnet school options. If you still have questions about Hillsborough Choice, please call 813-272-HOW2 (4692).
