Realizing Exceptional Achievements at a Community Hospital
REACH Alumni 2016 Students
I'm in my 2nd year at REACH and I got a paid job with All Team Staffing. I've already worked at a Monday Night Football game at Raymond James Stadium where the Buccaneers beat the Bengals in a pre-season game. I'm working a 2nd game this Saturday.
I have job trained in Diabetes Management, Today Care Child Care Center, St. Joseph's Season's Cafe, and Environmental Services at Women's Hospital. I have an upcoming interview to job train in Radiology as an Imaging Transporter next month.
When I started REACH I wanted to meet new friends and I've met a lot of new friends since I started here at REACH.
I would like to get a more regular job so I have applied to several hotels near my home.
I graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 2013.
I started in the REACH program in November of 2013. Here are all the Internships I've had so far: Mail Clerk for Ricoh USA (St. Joseph's Hospital Mail Room/Copy Center); Floor Assistant in Women's Hospital on the 5th floor (I loved this job and my boss); Teacher Aide at Today Care Child Care Center located on St. Joseph's property; Art Assistant at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary and Food Service Representative in St. Joseph's kitchen where I made salads and sandwiches; 4th floor at Women's doing some of the same things I did on the 5th floor and my last experience is at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary where I'm job training as a Student Nutrition Assistant in the cafeteria.
I have an application in with the school system for either a HOST (after school teacher aide) job or a Student Nutrition Assistant position. In the meantime, I interviewed and was hired at Busch Gardens. I worked a lot of hours there this summer but now that school is back in session I'm only working weekends. The Busch Gardens job will make my impressive resume` look even better!
Next month I have an interview to be a Substitute Student Nutrition Assistant for the school district.
My good friends at REACH are Courtney, She'Davia and Jakyra. I'm still friends with Lekeisha, Shaquanda and Jovan even though they already finished REACH.
My favorite Friday activity is shopping at the Flea Market. I like City Trend and Rainbow.
I'm having a great experience in the REACH program. I'll be finished in November of this year.
My name is Whitney. I'm 20 years old and I graduated from King High School in 2014.
I started REACH in September of 2014 and have job trained in the Materials Management department. My next internship was in Environmental Services hoping that the training will help me get a full time job in the field of Housekeeping.
I have a part time job at MacFarlane Park Elementary*, working 21 hours a week as a Teacher's Aide for the after school program called HOST. It is a good starter job but I know that bigger and better things will happen for me if I work hard.
I graduated from Alonso High School in 2013. I started in the REACH program in August 2014.
I like to read books and I like to do jigsaw puzzles.
In the classroom I like to study math like addition and multiplication and counting money. I also like to play educational games on the computer. I also read and do quizzes on the computer (reading, history, geography and math).
I have done an internship in the Mail Room as a Mail Clerk and in Patient Services at St. Joseph's Hospital kitchen. I moved from Patient Services to Cold Food Prep for 9 weeks where I made sandwiches and cleaned fruit. Then I job trained in the cafeteria where I stocked and cleaned. I've job trained as a Teacher Assistant in the child care center. I was a Media Assistant in the Media Center at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary and now I'm the Art Assistant at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary. My favorite job was working in the Media Center. In the future I would like to work as a Librarian Assistant and get paid.
Things are going good at REACH.
I'm 20 years old and I graduated from Middleton High School in 2013. I started in REACH on St. Patrick's Day 2014.
Right now I'm job training on the 4th Floor of Women's Hospital as a Floor Assistant. I've also job trained in the kitchen/cafe` at Women's Hospital. I was responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the tables, stocking condiments, snacks, cereal, milk, juice etc. and rolling silverware for the patients' food trays.
My next job training experience will be in Out Patient Rehab where I'll prepare rooms for patients, clean equipment and do some clerical work.
My favorite thing to do at REACH is "Choose Your Own Adventure" when you get to plan a trip into the community on a Friday with a friend.
What do I like to do on weekends? I like to sleep and watch TV and listen to music and go on YouTube.
I like my friends at REACH because for a long time I've been lonely and now it's nice to have friends. Plus they've taught me so many new things. I've made some more new friends this year as well. They are really nice to me.
Hi! My name is David and I graduated from Alonso High School in 2014. After I graduated I went on a cruise.
In January 2015 I started in the REACH program. I interviewed the first week in 2 departments...Materials Management and Sterile Processing. They both gave me great evaluations on my interviewing skills and they both wanted me. I had to do a "working" interview with Sterile Processing so they could make sure I had the skills to do what is required in their department. I decided to go with Sterile Processing for the first 9 weeks, then I gave Materials Management a try.
Last year I applied for a job with PetSupermarket at 2320 N. Dale Mabry Hwy. I interviewed and was hired. I really liked my job at PetSupermarket a lot and it's a great "starter" job but I wanted to continue job training at St. Joseph's Hospital with the REACH program. So, I started job training in the Laboratory. When my 9 weeks was over, they asked me to appy for a job because they wanted to hire me. I am now a full time Baycare employee at St. Joseph's Hospital WITH BENEFITS! My job title is "Medical Lab Technician".
Oh, and I also got my driver's license.
