This is my 2nd year in the REACH Program. This past January I was hired by the Radiology Department as an Imaging Transporter. I work and get paid 3 days a week. I’m still job training 2 days a week so that I can get more experience in different departments because someday I will transfer to St. Joe`s South because I live in Riverview.
My name is Steve. I graduated from Central High School in Brooksville. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I like to go to the movies with my friends. I just go in the REACH Program. I’m job training in Materials Distribution at Women’s Hospital. I’m happy to be in the REACH Program so I can learn a lot of skills.
This is my 2nd year at REACH. I‘m getting good work experience. Not only do I job train 4 days a week in different departments, I also work part time 5 days a week at Miles Elementary. I get paid for working with children in the after school program called HOST. I work with K and 1st graders. Since I’ve been in REACH I’ve learned how to figure out different bus routes so I can get around town pretty easily.
I graduated from Jefferson High School and I heard about the REACH Program from one of my teachers.
I toured, applied and passed the screening and now I’m in REACH. I’m job training at Today Care Child Care Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital with the 2 year olds.
I graduated from Riverview High School in 2016. Now I’m at REACH and job training in Housekeeping. I enjoy watching the New York Giants play football.
Hi! This is my 2nd year in REACH. I am getting good work experience 4 days a week. I job train in different departments every 9 weeks and I enjoy it. I also got a job working with children at an after school program called HOST and I also get paid for being a teacher aide. I really enjoy it! The school I work at is Rampello and it is a magnet school.
REACH is also where I met my boyfriend Joshua B. He is the most amazing, funny, and lovable person that I ever have loved. He completed the REACH program in June so we try to get together every weekend.
My name is Fantasia and I’m 21 years old. I’ve been in the REACH program since July. I am job training in 2 departments:
- Floor Assistant on the 5th floor of Women’s Hospital
- I stock the Respiratory Etiquette Stations with masks, tissue and soap at both St. Joe’s and Women’s Hospitals for the Infection Control and Prevention Department.
In my spare time I like to listen to music and spend time with my family and friends.
I deliver materials to the “C” elevators at St. Joe’s. I help Anthony who has worked there for more than 6 years and used to be a REACH student a long time ago. I like to play football, watch videos on YouTube and play video games. I like to watch Hard Knocks on HBO.
I graduated in 2016 from Spoto High School. Ms. Kate at my school recommended me to this program called REACH. I job trained in the mailroom in the basement of St. Joseph’s Hospital. I delivered mail to different departments of the hospital. Now I’m working as a teacher’s assistant in the child care center. I learned how to take 2 buses each way to REACH and home. I‘ve learned a lot of new things at REACH.
I graduated in 2016 from Newsome High School. I already have job experience because I have worked for a couple of landscaping businesses. I’m a huge Green Bay Packer fan and Brett Farve was my favorite player.
I’m currently job training at Women’s Hospital in the Sterile Processing Department delivering materials from the warehouse to their department. I’m also interested in job training in the mail room and the Facilities Department over at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Hi, my name is Elizabeth and I'm 18 years old. I graduated from Wharton High School in 2015. I really enjoyed my high school years.
I really wanted to be in the REACH program so I went on a tour and filled out an application. I was on the waiting list for a whole semester after I graduated but I finally got the call to come in for a screening. I passed the screening and started at the end of January.
I interviewed the first week in REACH at the Child Care Center. Why the Child Care Center? Because I like working with kids and because I want to learn about how to take care of kids. It's not easy to deal/work/take care of kids/children but if you have a passion for kids and love kids, BELIEVE ME, you will enjoy working with kids. When a kid smiles, you smile back and the kids' smiles send a little bit of happiness to you and it makes you feel real good on the inside.
And why did I choose REACH? Because I want to work in a medical facility and this will give me some experience. Maybe I can get hired faster.
I'm bi-lingual and that might help me get a job faster also.
My name is Jeremy. I’m 20 years old. I graduated from Sickles High School. I have 1 sister. I love playing Injustice 2 video games and reading Green Arrow comic books. I’ve been in the REACH Program for 8 month. I have job trained in Environmental Services, Materials Distribution and now I’m in the Facilities Department. My favorite so far has been Materials Distribution.
Good morning, everybody! My name is Monika and I just turned 21 on September 21. I enjoy being in the REACH program and I am almost at the end of being in REACH. My new job that I have in the REACH Program is as an Imaging Transporting for the Radiology Department. Plus, I got hired as a fitting room assistant over at Marshall’s on Dale Mabry Blvd. I will be started that job in October, and I love everything about it.
My favorite thing to do in my free time is spending some quality time with my family and going out of town to visit even more of my family that I haven’t seen in awhile. I also love going to church, listening to my favorite music every day, and I love going to the mall with my mother.
The REACH Program has taught me many things like becoming even more independent in what I want to do in life, learning about the different kinds of jobs that are in the hospital and learning how to do a job. I am very grateful to have been in this program and having such amazing teachers such as Mrs. Price and Mrs. Melika helping me out with everything that you need help with in the program.
