Exceptional Student Education (Special Education)

Autism Spectrum Disorders

The Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) program may serve individuals with Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Rhett's Disorder, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder-NOS who receive services through Exceptional Student Education or general education. Individuals on the Autism Spectrum may receive services in a variety of settings as the full continuum of services is available through classrooms at the elementary and secondary levels as well as at exceptional centers.

  • Autism Society of America - The Autism Society, the nation’s leading grassroots autism organization, exists to improve the lives of all affected by autism. We do this by increasing public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals across the lifespan, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research and advocacy.
  • Autism Speaks - Autism Speaks is the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
  • Center for Autism & Related Disabilities at USF - The Center for Autism & Related Disabilities at USF is a community-based project that provides information and consultation to individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities. CARD-USF offers instruction and coaching to families and professionals through a training and assistance model.
