Transportation services within Hillsborough County Public Schools support the timely and safe delivery of our students, ensuring they are ready to learn upon arrival to school. 995 iconic yellow HCPS school busses comprise the transportation fleet providing students connectivity between their neighborhood and school. HCPS buses are staffed by dedicated, skilled drivers who maintain student safety as their top priority.
The Transportation department addresses the needs of Hillsborough County Public School students by dividing the county in eight distinct geographic areas. Bus stops, bus routes and pick up/drop off times are determined in accordance with the needs of neighborhood and magnet/choice schools. All bus drivers must possess a valid C.D.L. Phase 1 class B license upon submitting a bus driver application to the school district. Once hired, drivers receive training in order to obtain Phase II of C.D.L. licensure. Each newly hired driver receives 70 hours of classroom and road instruction in order to ensure the safety for our students, fellow drivers and the community.
Both attendance area schools as well as most magnet schools benefit from transportation services. As part of Hillsborough County Public Schools commitment to choice options, students who participate in magnet programs or School Choice have some transportation options available to them.
The Transportation department’s commitment to safety is unsurpassed.
