District recognizes the Month of the Military Child
During the month of April, Hillsborough County Public Schools recognizes the Month of the Military Child. This awareness month highlights the importance our children, our youngest heroes, play in the Armed Forces community. HCPS is home to approximately 5,000 military-connected students in schools throughout Hillsborough County. These families represent the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard as active duty or reservists. In addition to active duty and reservist families, our district is also home to children of veterans.
Children of military families continue to inspire us despite the challenges that they face due to their unique situation. Throughout their school age years, they often have a parent deployed for extended periods of time, change schools multiple times, leave friends and are expected to adapt to new environments. Amidst all of this change these children exhibit resilience through their achievements, continued successes, and contributions to our community.
Hillsborough County Public Schools is honored to have military-connected children as part of our school family. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our military families and let military-connected children know they are heroes.
Join us in celebrating the Month of the Military Child and Purple Up! Purple symbolizes all branches of the military; combine Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red and Navy blue and you too can support our military children.
