Bevis Elementary was dedicated as the 24th Buccaneers Academy
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Glazer Family Foundation recently dedicated Bevis Elementary as the 24th Buccaneers Academy. As part of the celebration, guests and students celebrated their brand new Buccaneers Covered Court with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Joining students in the event were Bucs players, Doug Martin, Lavonte David, Cameron Brate, Andrew DePaola, Will Gholston, Keith Tandy, Kevin Pamphile, Kwon Alexander and Josh Keyes. Co-owner Darcie Glazer-Kassewitz was joined by Principal Cochrane, Kata Sawa from the American Heart Association, School Board member Melissa Snively, Area Superintendent Sherrie Sikes and cheerleaders to celebrate the students' win! Bevis was the winner of the 2016 NLFL Play 60 Challenge, where students in the 24 Academies had the chance to compete by staying active. Bevis earned a $2,000 grant to purchase physical education equipment.
Eileen Sweeney, Community Relations Director for the Bucs announced some of the programing scheduled to take place at the 24 Buccaneers Academies for the 2016/2017 school year which will include player visits, reading initiatives, Play 60 Challenge, Game Day for Kids, Tickets to the Future and the Vision Mobile which is sponsored by the Glazer Family Foundation!
