Ahead of the Class! Some High School Seniors in Hillsborough County will earn a College Degree Two Weeks Before Earning High School Diploma

Who: More than 100 students from Armwood High School, Lennard High School and Leto High School

What:

Graduating seniors will receive Associate of Arts degree two weeks before they receive their high school diploma

When:

Friday, May 5, 9:30 a.m.

Where:


Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall, 4800 N. U.S. Highway 301, Tampa


Why:


The students are the first graduating class of the Collegiate Academy, a magnet program, started by Hillsborough County Public Schools back in 2014 through a partnership with Hillsborough Community College (HCC). Students take college classes while taking courses at their high school to meet their graduation requirements. This program is offered at no cost to students and families and saves families approximately $6,000 in college tuition.

Additional Information: Students who complete the full 60 college credits offered to them through this program have potential to transfer to any public Florida college or university as third-year students (juniors).
