Highlighting Inspiring Stories from the Class of 2017

May 12, 2017

Hillsborough County Public Schools will highlight inspiring stories from the Class of 2017, with its annual show Spotlight on Seniors.

Viewers will have the chance to learn more about the determination and hard work of several HCPS students and how it paved the way for a host of post-secondary opportunities.

Those students include Deena Zaki, a senior at Blake High School who found passion in playing the viola.  She has been accepted to the Oberlin College and Conservatory where she plans to obtain a Bachelor’s of Music in viola performance and French.  Steinbrenner’s Zachary Howard plans to make a difference working in the field of marine biology preventing the depletion of coral reefs.  Filmmaker Derrick Perez, a senior at Bloomingdale High School, said he wants his films to be works of art that inspire viewers to change the world.  King High School’s Heta Patel is her school’s I.B. Salutatorian. She has a love of science and has earned a stellar 8.56 grade point average.

The show will air on the Tampa Bay Arts and Education Network (TBAE) throughout the months of May and June. TBAE can be found on Frontier channel 32 and Spectrum channel 635. The show will also air on the district's YouTube channel https://youtu.be/0_JvNThfclY.  The vision of Hillsborough County Public Schools is that we are “Preparing Students for Life.”
