Hillsborough County Public Schools to Host First-Ever Chinese Summer Camp

Who: More than 50 incoming 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade students

What:

Students will learn about Chinese culture through exposure to basic Chinese phrases and conversation, explore history through the ancient art form of Chinese calligraphy, travel back in time and learn traditional dragon dance, games and songs.

When:

June 5 – June 8
8:00 a.m. – noon 8th and 9th grade students
1:00 – 5:00 p.m. 10th and 11th grade students

Why:


The District is hosting the first-ever Chinese camp to introduce students to the world’s most spoken language. Chinese is a language that uses tones and characters thus engaging both parts of the brain and improving cognitive skills. Students will be immersed in the Chinese culture via engaging hands-on authentic activities. 


Additional Information:   

Camp will conclude with a Student Showcase where students will bring to life what they learned about the Chinese culture.
