Stay informed with important school calendar dates
There are only a few days left until students go back to school. HCPS students will begin Tuesday, August 25. Over 200 schools will welcome more than 200,000 students back to the district. The approved 2015-2016 student calendar will help families get a jump start on what’s to come and make note of important dates that will impact their child. Here are a few important dates to keep in mind. Visit the HCPS Calendar page for all important dates.
Open House Dates
Open house dates are set for Sept. 14th for high school, Sept. 16 for middle school and Sept. 24 for elementary school. Some schools might deviate from this schedule so it’s best to confirm with each individual school.
Monday Early Release Days
Another 33 days have been designated as “early release” for the 2015-2016 school year, and all of them cut the day short by one hour every Monday.
Sept. 12 at Jefferson High School
Nov. 14 at Bloomingdale High School
Some holiday observances fall on a Monday, which means there will be no school Sept. 7th, Labor Day; Jan.18th, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day; May 30, Memorial Day
Three “nonstudent” break days also fall on Mondays, Oct. 26th, Jan. 19th, and March 25th
Veterans Day will be observed Nov. 11th
Major breaks are scheduled in the fall, Nov. 23-27, winter, Dec. 21 through Jan. 1, and spring March 14-18.
Fairs or Festivals
To allow for attendance to the Florida State Fair, students in western Hillsborough County will have no school Feb. 5
In eastern Hillsborough County, students will be out March 7 so they can attend the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City
Grading Periods and Report Cards
The 181 day school year contains four grading periods.
First Grading period: Oct. 23, 2015
Second grading period: Jan. 15., 2015
Third grading period: April 1, 2015
Fourth grading period: June 10, 2015
Reports cards for elementary school students will be distributed Nov. 9, Feb. 1, April 18 and June 10
For secondary school students, report cards will be sent home Nov. 13, Feb. 9 and April 21
Final report cards will be mailed home

American Education Week is set nationally for Nov. 16-20, 2015

National School Bus Safety Week, October 19-23, 2015
College Night dates have been set for Sept. 28 at Sickles High, Sept. 29 at Plant High, Sept. 30 at Chamberlain High and Oct. 1 at Brandon High.
