Students Learn Life Skills and Leadership at “Cougar Academy”

Who: 105 students from Sligh Middle Magnet School 

What:

Students are excited to spend part of their summer at the “Cougar Academy” to focus on academics, robotics, enrichment classes and developing life skills to help them further their goals to become positive student leaders

When:

Photo opportunity, Wednesday, June 21, beginning at 9 a.m.

Where:


Sligh Middle Magnet School, 2011 E. Sligh Ave., Tampa


Why:


Middle school years are comprised of some of the most crucial stages of a student’s life. The academy is designed to ensure each child is provided opportunities for success through strong academic courses, mentoring and critical thinking skills


How:   

Students will experience hands-on participation with robotics. An enrichment component is also scheduled to expose students to art, drama, music and culinary skills. A day at the academy will include core academic classes including English Language Arts and Science-Technology-Engineering-Math (STEM). Students will also take leadership development courses comprised of social and life skills and will develop communication and positive goal setting skills.
