Tampa Bay Buccaneers HOST students for a day of fun at One Buc Place
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers invited Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) students on August 8th to be part of an HBO taping of Hard Knocks. Students from the HOST (Hillsborough Out of School Time) program were greeted by Buccaneers cheerleaders, ran practice plays with the players, and ate lunch at One Buc Place.
HBO’s series Hard Knocks follows the Buccaneers as they prepare for the upcoming National Football League (NFL) season. The Buccaneers and HCPS have continued a longstanding partnership in which the Buccaneers support students through their sponsorship of 24 Title I elementary schools called Buccaneer Academies. These academies provide literacy challenges and grade specific academic programming, Cheer Chats, player visits, vision screening and glasses, game day tickets, and school district spirit nights.
Through this partnership, students are exposed to out-of-the-classroom opportunities while engaging in programs and activities that enhance their academic success and experiential learning. The extracurricular events include Turkey Time with the O-Line, Thanksgiving Meals, Hometown Huddle, NFL Play 60 Challenge, Cheer Camps, United Way Suncoast Day of Caring, Behind the Scenes tours, Holiday Card Contest, and Player Summer Training experience, among others.
HOST provides affordable care for nearly 13,000 students before and after school and during summer break at nearly 150 school sites across HCPS. To learn more about HOST, visit: Hillsborough Out of School Time.View Full Album
