Tampa, Fla. – (October 29, 2015) – The memories of Calyx and Beau Schenecker are honored every year by classmates and students who never got the chance to meet the teens.
On Friday, October 30, Liberty Middle School students join forces for the fifth year with National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) to raise money for the Calyx and Beau Schenecker Memorial Fund. 100% of the proceeds from cookie dough sales will be donated to the memorial fund. The fund provides scholarships to promising leaders, athletes, and artists in the Tampa Bay area. So far, the fund has granted more than $40,000 in scholarships.
Liberty Middle School is located at 17400 Commerce Park Blvd., Tampa. NJHS and FBLA officers will begin visiting classrooms at 9:15 a.m., passing out fundraising packets and explaining the purpose of the fundraiser.
Calyx was a cross country runner and enrolled in the IB program at King High School. She would have been a junior in college this year. Beau was a student at Liberty Middle School and a member of FBLA. He would have been a college freshman this year.
On November 13, at 10:00 a.m., the Schenecker Speaker Series takes place at Liberty Middle School. Col. Parker Schenecker, Calyx and Beau’s father, welcomes Tim Madigan, a journalist and author, who speaks across the country about the importance of friendships, unconditional love, and living honorable lives.
