#BoltsKids cheer for the Lightning
Cheers for the Tampa Bay Lightning could be heard on campuses across the county as excited HCPS students back the hometown hockey team in Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs.
“Let’s Go Bolts! Let’s Go Bolts,” chanted students at a Lightning pep rally at Lithia Springs Elementary School. The littlest Bolts backers donned their favorite players' jerseys and sported "playoff beards" to show their team pride.
“The vision was for our school to show some community spirit and support an organization that supports schools and the community so much. They love coming to school and when we do things like this, they just love school even more,” said Lithia Springs Elementary School Principal Kevin Martin.

Principals and teachers posted dozens of pictures on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #BoltsKids to enter the contest.
“It’s very fun being a Lightning fan,” said Ayva, a Lithia Springs second-grade student. “It’s just my life. It’s not just in me – it is me!”
HCPS teamed up with the Lightning to find the most creative Bolts spirit this playoff season and showcase students and schools rallying behind the district’s community partner.
“We have a great street hockey club, and we participate in their ball hockey tournament every year, and then they do academic things. It would be another really neat thing for our school to take part in,” said Principal Martin.
The teacher of the winning classroom will receive a $100 Dunkin Donuts gift card and a $100 gift card for classroom supplies.
Students are committed to “Be the Thunder.”
“People say I was born a Lightning fan, so I decided to root for them and root for them all of my life,” said Ayva.
“They’re going to win! Go Bolts,” cheered Liam, a Lithia Springs fifth grader.
The winner of the Breakfast Party with the Bolts will be announced May 2.View Full Album
