Navy Week Continues with Major Event for Students at the Florida Aquarium and a Special Musical Performance

Tampa, Fla. – (May 8, 2018) – Navy Week continues in Hillsborough County Public Schools, highlighted with a trip for hundreds of students to the Florida Aquarium.
Tampa Bay has been chosen as one of only 14 Navy Weeks across the country. This week, students and staff in Hillsborough County Public Schools are welcoming dozens of Navy personnel into their classrooms. Sailors from across the country are delivering inspiring messages to students and showing them how the skills and knowledge they are learning in the classroom can lead directly to a career in the military or civilian worlds.
Here are just a few highlights scheduled in Hillsborough County Public Schools for Tuesday, May 8:
- 9:30 a.m-1 p.m. – Navy Day at the Florida Aquarium - students will participate in different activities and watch performances including an exciting swim by Navy divers into the main tank to swim among reef dwellers; as well as performances by the Ceremonial Guard Drill Team, the Navy Band and displays by the Navy Meteorology and Oceanography Commands and the Naval History and Heritage Command, 701 Channelside Dr., Tampa
- 6 p.m. – Navy Band – Robinson High School - the United States Navy Band, which began in 1925, is the premiere musical organization of the U.S. Navy. They will play a concert at Robinson High, home to one of the largest high school bands in the district. Robinson High School is located at 6311 S. Lois Ave., Tampa
