Hillsborough County Public Schools makes every effort to retain students and ensure that each student receives a quality education. It is our hope that no student drop out. The district has many program offerings available to guide students towards earning their high school diploma.

  • Adult and Community Education offers high school credit classes (day and evening hours) to assist earning lost or make-up credits. In addition, GED preparation and GED testing are also available. To find out more about program offerings, Click Here.
  • Career Centers may also be an option students and parents may want to consider. Students earn their high school diploma and learn a career/vocation to be better prepared for the workplace. Students must meet specific criteria and be recommended by their high school in order to attend one of the centers. Speak to your Guidance Counselor or for more information, Click Here.
  • The IMPACT Program is a dropout prevention/academic intervention program. It provides an opportunity for students who are academically deficient, have low GPA’s, are over-aged and have low credit totals, to graduate with their kindergarten cohort. Speak to your Guidance Counselor for more information.
  • Don’t drop out of school because you are pregnant or recently had a baby! The district can connect you with on-line classes and daycare facilities that will assist you with childcare while you are going to school. Contact your Guidance Counselor for more information regarding the Teen Parenting Program. The district’s contact for this program is Marylou Whaley 272-4529. For more information, Click Here.
  • Are you behind in school? The Success Academy is an over-aged middle school program that may help you catch up and graduate on schedule. The Success Academy is offered at both Brandon Alternative and North Tampa Alternative. Talk with your Guidance Counselor or contact one of the sites for more information.
