Today, more than
ever before, it is imperative that we develop the talents and skills of
all our young people. Ensuring that each student has a carefully
planned, challenging course of study is an important ingredient to
success. The SCHEDULING GUIDELINES document is designed to provide
assistance to school personnel in planning academic programs for
students in middle and senior high schools. Information included in this
document was contributed by the departments of Secondary, Middle School,
Non-Traditional, Technical, Career, and Adult, and Exceptional Student
Education, and was compiled in the Office of Records and Academic
Advisement.
We gratefully
acknowledge all contributors.
This document is
designed to provide school personnel with information regarding
secondary student scheduling. District courses approved for middle and
senior high schools are identified and described.
Only those courses
that are listed in the county's program of studies course descriptions
shall be offered in order to maintain consistency in the curricular
programs of all schools. New titles may be added to the course listing
by working closely with the specific subject area supervisors. These
titles must be listed in the State Course Code Directory.
All courses listed
and described herein may not necessarily be offered at each school
center. Courses offered at a given school are determined by the
community needs, the size of the school and the staff available.
