School Health Services Back to School Physicals and Immunizations

INFORMATION FOR PROFESSIONALS APPLYING FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS: Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Registered Nurses (RN), Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)

Hiring for all nursing positions is the responsibility of the Department of School Health Services, a division of Student Support Services and Federal Programs. All qualified applicants will be interviewed by School Health Service’s Nursing Staff. Job availability, hiring and school assignments are under the jurisdiction of the School Health Service’s Administrator.

Positions are Full Time with 8 hrs days.
  • LPN Minimum Requirements:
    • Have a current license from the Florida Board of Professional Regulations as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • RN Minimum Requirements:
    • Possess valid State of Florida license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
    • Bachelor of Nursing Degree preferred.
    • 2 years experience in one or more of the following areas: pediatrics, school, community, public health, critical care or emergency room experience.
    • RN positions may be assigned to one or multiple sites
  • ARNP Minimum Requirements:
    • Licensed as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner In the State of Florida.
    • Specializing In the area of Pediatrics or family practice with experience in school, public health, and/or maternal child health nursing.
    • ARNP positions are responsible for multiple sites.

There are opportunities to work with medically fragile and severely mentally handicapped students that are in neighborhood schools or, in some cases, exceptional education centers. There are opportunities to work in rural or metropolitan settings with a diverse multi-cultural population.

An Orientation Training Program for new staff is supported by trainers who will provide continuous individual support. CPR/AED, Medication and First Aid Training are a requirement and will be provided by the staff. In addition, twice a year the staff is provided with Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that supplement work responsibilities and assist in maintaining Florida Board Licensure.
