SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the Hillsborough County Public Schools!

Our primary focus is improving student achievement. We realize that every aspect of the school district's operations must be highly effective for our students to meet our high academic expectations.

Technology and communication play important parts in a quality public school system, so our website is designed to be informative and easily navigated. We encourage you to browse our homepage and learn more about the district Strategic Plan, meet our School Board members, visit school websites, find employment opportunities, and check our school district calendar for important dates. More information about the School District of Hillsborough County is available through the District Information and Communications web pages.

Our vision is to be recognized for providing the best education in the nation, and several indicators of our success toward realizing that vision can be found on the Information Packet web page. For instance, 10 out of our 23 high schools were listed in Newsweek’s 2005 America’s Best High Schools, one in the top 10. Our students consistently score at or above the national average at every grade level on math exams. In addition, district 8 th graders have scored the highest average on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Writing Test every year since 2000, with one of our middle schools posting the highest average in the state for a regular school in 2005.

We use this homepage to inform the community about our district, teachers, students and programs. With the growing use of technology in homes, businesses and within schools, we believe our website is a vital communication resource, so we continually update and strive to improve its contents.
