NEW TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT STANDARDS THAT WILL BE ENFORCED IN AUGUST 2008

  • ·All students who live within two miles of a school and do not face a state approved hazard will be required to walk to and from school. As per the Department of Education, state approved hazards apply to elementary school students only.
  • Parents may not send notes to school with approval for a student to ride a different bus to or from school with a friend.  (Issues of family hardship or extreme emergencies will be handled on an individual basis by the School and Transportation Department).
  • Bus stops must correspond with the student’s residence address of record with HCPS.
  • Transportation arrangements for shared-custody divorce situations must be obtained through a separate application process. Please call the Transportation Department Call Center (813)982-5500 for more information.
  • Students must ride the same bus to and from school.
  • Students must be enrolled in their attendance boundary school before bus stop assignments can be generated. Failure to do so will cause a delay in the implementation of the student’s transportation services.
