Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Services
Hillsborough County Public Schools offers ESE services in the Elementary, Middle, and High School to those students eligible for services. IEP teams, including parents, determine ESE services appropriate to meet the students' needs. Hillsborough Virtual School is a school of choice. We do not offer ESE services. Parents have the right to choose Hillsborough Virtual School as a school of choice for their student, but do so realizing that ESE services are not provided by our program.
Hillsborough Virtual School has had students who are eligible for ESE services choose to enroll into our programs and they have been very successful online learners. Parents have found that giving their student the opportunity to work online at their own pace has been useful. Online education focuses student attention to the subject at hand, and for many students that becomes a benefit. Online education, however, is not for every student. Parents become a very important resource in online education and must be willing to support their child's academic efforts through monitoring student's time on task, and student assignments.
