Career, Technical, and Adult Education

Envision Your Future...Destination Success!

Career, Technical, and Adult Education (CTAE) provides assistance and support to teachers in preparing all ages of students with the knowledge and skills needed for advanced technical training; learning at the postsecondary level; earning high school credentials, family literacy and citizenship, and a wide range of opportunities in high-skill, high-wage careers.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) includes middle and high school students taking courses in one of 17 career clusters. These courses are part of an overall program of study designed to prepare students to be successful in a rapidly changing workforce and equip them to make informed decisions about future college and career pathways. CTE offers students opportunities to earn highly valued industry certifications and to develop a multitude of skills while experiencing rigorous curriculum with real world applications. CTE students who complete a Program of Study are eligible for many scholarships, including the Gold Seal Bright Futures Scholarship.

Adult Education provides educational opportunities to adult students 16 years or older in the areas of Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED), Adult High School credit, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Citizenship, Vocational Preparation Instruction, Workplace Readiness Skills, Family Literacy and Technical Career Educational Opportunities.

Workforce and Continuing Education includes the 4 Hillsborough Technical Colleges (HTC), the postsecondary extension of Hillsborough County Public Schools. Career focused training offers students the opportunity to seek a new career, professional growth, or just enter the workforce. HTC strives continuously to meet the changing workforce development needs in Hillsborough County by offering career training that results in high quality technical certifications and diplomas that meet the needs of our area students, employers, and economic developers. This department includes Workforce Education programs which lead to diplomas and technical certificates of credit, as well as Continuing Education for personal, technical, and professional growth.
