LEAD Student Art Contest

LEAD Student Art Contest

Deadline to enter is 4:00 p.m., January 30, 2020.

In celebration of Black History Month, Hillsborough County Public Schools is proud to announce this year’s LEAD (Learn, Empower, Advocate, Dream) Student Art Contest. Leaders impact us in so many ways. We encounter leaders at home, in our schools, religious institutions, on the playing field, and many other places throughout our community. The LEAD art contest challenges students to create an artistic interpretation expressing how he or she has been inspired by a local black leader. For example, consider the following possibilities:

  • Pastor
  • Advisor/Mentor
  • Teacher/Principal
  • Fire Fighter
  • Family Member
  • Musician
  • Coach
  • Police Officer
  • Judge/Lawyer
  • Community Advocate
  • Friend
  • Military Member

  • All 2D submissions are welcome (drawing, painting, collage, photography, mixed media, printmaking)
  • Artwork must be backed on something sturdy for display purposes
  • Dimensions of work should not exceed 18 in x 20 in
  • Artwork should be submitted with a brief Artist Statement, describing the thought process behind the creation
