School Bus Safety Poster Contest

Bus Safety Poster Contest Online Entry

The 2019 National School Bus Safety Poster Contest is upon us. This year’s theme is “Red Lights Mean STOP!” The purpose of this contest is to promote bus safety.

The District finalist and first place winners from each division will be posted on Transportation Services website and will be recognized at a district school board meeting. In addition all finalists will receive an award.

Due to the busy nature of the school day, teachers will support participation but the district encourages families and afterschool programs to work together as a fun educational activity.

National School Bus Safety Week is an active and evolving public education program is an excellent way for everyone - parents, students, teachers, motorists, school bus operators, school administrators, and other interested parties - to join forces and address the importance of school bus safety. Designed to promote school bus safety, school districts throughout the country have been observing a School Bus Safety Week - held during the third week in October each year. The centerpiece of National School Bus Safety Week is the National SBSW Poster Contest. Thousands of school districts in over 40 states participate in local and state-level competitions to select art work that depicts school bus safety-related themes and encourages and promotes school bus safety. The winning posters are used to promote safer school transportation for everyone. The National School Bus Safety Week Committee is comprised of members of the American School Bus Council.

With school in session and our Yellow school buses out on the roads taking our students to and from school each day, school bus safety is one of our biggest concerns. Speeding and distracted driving around school zones seem to be one of our biggest challenges. This is why it’s so important that drivers look out for the big Yellow School Bus and remember to stop an additional 3 seconds will not make a difference in your life but it can change someone else’s life forever.

And because we care so much we teamed up this year with the Florida Department of Transportation and Hillsborough County Sheriff Office to share some school bus safety tips.
