Raising Awareness About Energy Conservation
Our district is proud to partner with Minimise USA, a local company at the forefront of energy efficiency. Minimise USA provides our schools with no-cost energy upgrades and savings. Minimise USA also equips our students and teachers with the education and awareness needed to make an impact in the world—and provides them with the tools necessary to be part of the energy saving solution.
Be energy wise - conserve energy and water by turning off lights and tightening leaky faucet handles.
Our objectives include:
- develop awareness at all facilities
- reduce utility costs by at least 12%
- conduct detailed studies of electric, gas, water and sewage usage
- develop and monitor incentive award programs in schools
- interface with utility companies
- review and evaluate utility billing for HCPS

Operations Energy Conservation Spotlight
Congratulations to Muller Elementary Magnet School for earning the Ryan A. Raines Energy Award for the 2018-2019 school year. This award is given to a school each year who saves the most energy in memory of Ryan A Raines who was an Energy Mentor for Hillsborough Schools. School was awarded a $1,000 check and a permanent plaque to proudly display their accomplishment of reducing their energy consumption by 29 percent compared to last year. Approximately $27,864 of energy savings will funnel back in the district to support schools. All achieved by maintaining proper HVAC & lightning schedules, and verifying all door and windows are closed.
