Why #WeAchieveTogether: Teacher Linda Pittman

September 19, 2018 - Employee Excellence

Linda Pittman is a third grade teacher at Dunbar Elementary Magnet School and was recently named Dunbar's Teacher of the Year.

Why do I love working at an Achievement School? Well, why do people want to go see the Grand Canyon? Because the Grand Canyon is a place where great change has occurred on the Earth.

For me, teaching at an Achievement School is like a Grand Canyon experience because here, I get to see great change and experience the awe and wonder in my students every single day – what could be better than that?

My goal every day is for kids to know that they’re loved, that they matter, for them to have a growth mindset, and for them to be on a path for academic success.

When I look at my students and where they are at in the beginning of the year, and where they are at the end of the year, I am in awe of all they have accomplished.

If you want to make a great difference in the life of a child, an Achievement School is the place for you, because you’re going to see a total transformation in a child. It is the most rewarding and fulfilling job I have ever had.

This is Why #WeAchieveTogether.
