The 2019 National School Bus Safety Poster Contest is upon us. This year’s theme is "Red Lights Mean STOP!" The purpose of this contest is to promote school bus safety. The district finalist and first place winners from each division will be posted on the Transportation Services website and will be recognized at a district school board meeting. In addition all finalists will receive an award.
With school in session and our yellow school buses out on the roads, school bus safety is one of our biggest concerns. Speeding and distracted driving around school zones seems to be one of our biggest challenges. This is why it’s so important that drivers look out for the big yellow school bus and remember to keep their eyes on the road. On average, glancing at your phone takes about 3 seconds. An additional 3 seconds will not make a difference in your life but it can change someone else’s life forever.
Parents and teachers should feel free to use this contest as an opportunity to reinforce school bus safety expectations. The district encourages families and after school programs to work together as a fun educational activity.
