When Meredith Bippen couldn’t throw a birthday party for her son due to the coronavirus pandemic, her friends swooped in to help.
Hillsborough County Deputy Jaime Heaverin has been working with Bippen at Rodgers Middle School for the past three years, so she knew her son’s birthday was coming up.
Deputy Heaverin contacted Corporal Jason Himmel, and together surprised her son, Hayden, with a parade and balloons
“She messaged me last week that she had a surprise for his birthday,” said Bippen. “I assumed a balloon or card. I definitely did not expect a parade of deputies.”
Hayden, a kindergarten student at Collins Elementary, was greeted with the sound of sirens. When he walked outside, deputies drove slowly past the house with their lights flashing.
Corporal Jason Himmel then parked his car and greeted Hayden with balloons, while he sang Happy Birthday.
Bippen said it was a birthday surprise he will never forget.
