Orange Grove Middle Magnet School of the Arts is honored to celebrate Evan Gatscher, an extremely gifted visual artist who has taken his talent into the community.
Known to “paint in a pinch”, Evan Gatscher pushes limits, explores controversial art, and allows innovation to guide his passion. Evan has been a professional artist since the young age of eight; now at 13, his artwork and willingness to share his artistry has set new standards for HCPS students to extend themselves as learners and leaders, but also entrepreneurs.
While most middle school students are nicely tucked into bed at 2 o’clock in the morning, Evan finds himself compelled to wake up and draw, which is when he is most creative. Evan, a self-taught artist who loves to draw hopes to inspire other young artists. He shares his passion by participating in several art shows in the Tampa Bay area, featuring his artwork on Instagram, and tutorials on youTube.
His work can be found in several prominent galleries around the Central Florida area. Most recently, his phenomenal art pieces were showcased at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of the Arts. His presentation of Close Encounters of the Artistic Kind captured the attention of both art connoisseurs and novice art fans. He describes the interpretation of his work as, “The dark yet comical outlook of life.”
He excels in using different colors and shading techniques, while giving his creations a unique vibe opposite of the real world experience. Evan is inspired by the clouds, mirrors, and shadows. Artists that have motivated him include Dali, Da Vinci, Ed Gorey, Tim Burton, Nolan Ross, and Bill Watterson. With the support of his family, school, and community; Evan can be expected to continue to draw and paint some amazing artistic pieces.
