The Conn Memorial Foundation is based in Tampa and supports nonprofit social service and educational programs and organizations. It also serves economically and environmentally challenged children and their families. Their donations take many forms and include various programs, but all are given to Hillsborough County nonprofits specifically focused on the educational achievement of children in low-income neighborhoods. Sulphur Springs K-8 Community School is a thankful recipient of much of the Foundation’s generosity. More than $350,000 in financial support this year alone has been donated to the Neighborhood of Promise work in Sulphur Springs.
Funding priorities of the Foundation include promoting and enhancing attendance, academic achievement, social and emotional learning and parent engagement. They are committed to assisting stakeholders with creating a culture that promotes a caring, nurturing and successful education while offering support services in positive and productive settings.
In addition, the Conn Memorial Foundation has granted a $30,000 donation to the Master of Art in Teaching Residency Program and USF College of Education partnership. This funding will promote and enhance elementary student learning as well as novice teacher learning in an urban school setting. Generous gifts like this provide the financial support needed to continue the mission of training and retaining effective teachers in high need schools such as Sulphur Springs.
