Veterans Day Events

Tampa, Fla. – (November 6, 2015) – Many Hillsborough County Public Schools will honor veterans during ceremonies and programs next week. The details listed below are just some of the events. As a reminder, students and teachers will have the day off from school on Wednesday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day.

· Claywell Elementary - Monday, November 9, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Students will sing patriotic songs as boy scouts perform a flag ceremony. Veterans from the community have been invited as the students present the five branches of the military. 4500 Northdale Blvd., Tampa

· Alonso High School – Tuesday, November 10, 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
The school will honor faculty and staff who have served in the Armed Forces as well as welcoming an Alonso graduate who is a veteran. The superior-rated band and orchestra will perform as students lay a wreath at the base of the flagpole. JROTC students have been collecting hygiene items for homeless veterans in the area and will coordinate efforts to deliver those. Students are being asked to wear red, white, and blue. 8302 Montague St. Tampa

· Veterans Memorial Park – Wednesday, November 11, 11 a.m.
JROTC students from several high schools including Bloomingdale, Chamberlain, Hillsborough, Middleton, Newsome and Riverview will participate in this annual program. The students will perform exhibition drills, present poems, and lead participants in the Pledge of Allegiance. 3602 N. U.S. Highway 301, Tampa, FL
