Tampa, Fla. – (August 6, 2018) – This is a reminder about the Superintendent’s Back to School message this morning, August 6, at 10 a.m., at Valrico Elementary School (609 S. Miller Rd., Valrico). (Media, parking is behind the school, please turn near Valrico Park, just south of the school entrance).

Superintendent Jeff Eakins, School Board Members, students and staff will share what is new this year in Hillsborough County Public Schools and where the district is headed. The superintendent will address important back to school issues including security, air conditioning and how our schools are having a direct impact on our community’s economy in excess of $670 million since 2015.

Our district’s theme this year is We Climb Together. It is all about the climb, from an all-time high graduation rate record set last year at 82.9%, to Industry Certifications earned by students topping the 7,000 mark. All at a time when the state funding continues to be inadequate based on students’ needs.
