Tampa, Fla. – (September 28, 2018) – Superintendent Jeff Eakins continues to inform voters about the November 6 Education Referendum sharing our schools’ needs and the positive impact a half-penny sales tax would have on our students, schools and community, through several town hall meetings.

The town hall meetings have been scheduled throughout the county. The district understands families and community members have busy schedules during the week, so a Saturday meeting has been added on Saturday, October 6, at 11 a.m., at HCC at The Regent Satellite Campus in Riverview. In addition, the town hall meeting scheduled for this Monday, October 1, at 7 p.m. at Wharton High School will be livestreamed to ensure this important information can be seen by more people. Superintendent Eakins is sharing information about the state of our school district, exciting opportunities for our students, and the $2 billion challenge our community faces because of inadequate state funding. 

The meetings will be led by Superintendent Eakins and are scheduled for:

  • September 18, 6 p.m. at South Tampa Fellowship Ballast Point Campus, 5101 Bayshore Blvd., Tampa

  • September 19, 7 p.m. at Schwarzkopf Elementary School, 18333 Calusa Trace Blvd., Lutz

  • September 24, 6 p.m. at Plant City High School, One Raider Place, Plant City

  • September 26, 7 p.m. at Grady Elementary School, 3910 W Morrison Ave., Tampa

  • October 1, 7 p.m. at Wharton High School, 20150 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa

  • October 3, 7 p.m. at Westchase Recreation Center, 9791 Westchase Dr., Tampa

  • October 4, 7 p.m. at Pizzo K-6 School, 11701 USF Bull Run Dr., Tampa

  • NEW DATE - October 6, 11 a.m. at HCC at The Regent Satellite Campus, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview

  • October 9, 7 p.m. at Jackson Springs Recreation Center, 8620 Jackson Springs Rd., Tampa

  • NEW DATE - October 10, 7 p.m. at Lennard High School, 2342 E. Shell Point Rd., Ruskin

  • October 11, 7 p.m. at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W. Fletcher Ave., Tampa

  • October 15, 7 p.m. at Middleton High School, 4801 N. 22nd St., Tampa

  • October 23, 7 p.m. at The Chapel at FishHawk, 6026 Churchside Dr., Lithia

Each meeting will provide families, district employees and community members the opportunity to get their questions about the referendum answered — straight from Superintendent Eakins. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
