Professional Florida Wrestlers BodySlam Bullying at Hillsborough County Schools
Florida wrestling superstars and special guests are among the local community partners who will appear at the anti-bullying event at Carter G. Woodson PK-8 Leadership Academy on January 25th.
The Anti-Bullying WrestleFest is a fun, family-friendly community outreach event that delivers positive messaging denouncing bullying while promoting higher education and encouraging social growth and goodwill.
Hillsborough Alliance of Black School Educators recently connected with community partners to stand behind Anti-Bullying and support students by sponsoring hundreds of student tickets with the purchase of a discounted Adult ticket.
In a study by the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of Education, nearly one in four students report being bullied each year in the United States.
To set the stage and bring pep-rallies to several Hillsborough Schools during Great American Teach-in Professional wrestlers visited schools such as Booker T. Washington, Folsom, Carter G. Woodson, and Wimauma teaching kids about bullying and why they need to take a stand against it.
Students repeat the Anti-Bullying Pledge, "I will not be a bully, if I see someone being bullied, I will tell an adult. I will not be apart of the problem, but I will be a part of the solution".
HABSE Ambassador and wrestling promoter, Howard Word want students to understand bullying is a serious matter.
"It's not just something you say, and then you forget about it.," explained Word. "It's something that can have a lifetime impact on them."
Professional Florida Wrestlers including our special guest ring announcer, School Board Member Chair, Tamara Shamburger will use this platform to plant seeds of inspiration.
