Tampa, Fla. – (May 28, 2019) – The Hillsborough County School Board will hold a special called School Board meeting on Tuesday, June 4, at 3:30 p.m. to vote on the adoption of our Threat Assessment Teams Policy.
Hillsborough County Public Schools has been a state and national leader on school security well before the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act passed. Our district had procedures surrounding our threat assessment teams already in place in schools. The adoption of this policy is the final step to fully implement the Public Safety Act.
The Threat Assessment Teams at each school provide coordination of resources, assessments and interventions with individuals whose behavior may pose a threat to the safety of school staff or students.
The special called board meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. with public comment and then lead into the business portion of the meeting. It will be held in the School Board Auditorium located at 901 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa.
