Tampa, Fla. – (October 3, 2019) – Hillsborough County Public Schools students from eight high schools and eleven middle schools will tour local manufacturing companies and learn about high-tech, high-wage, high-challenge careers available in the manufacturing industry. It is all part of Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 4.
Manufacturing Day is a statewide effort to introduce students to careers available right here in Florida. Representatives from ten local companies will educate students about manufacturing, its impact on our economy and the diverse and rewarding career opportunities it offers.
On Friday, the media is encouraged to visit these companies to watch students in action:
- 10 a.m.- noon, SMT, 5910 Johns Rd., Tampa – 35 students from Greco Middle School
- 10 a.m.- noon, Sypris, 10421 University Center Dr., Tampa – 20 students from Coleman Middle School
More than 650 students from across our district will take part in this event that could, one day, lead them to a career. Other companies participating in Manufacturing Day include Tampa Bay Steel, Creative Sign Designs, Tampa International Airport and EMI Industries.
