Tampa, Fla. – (November 14, 2019) – After the tragic death of his two children in 2011 while he was deployed to Afghanistan, Colonel Parker Schenecker made it his mission to honor his children, Calyx and Beau, by promoting character development and concern for others in today’s youth.

One of his efforts, the Schenecker Leadership & Ethics Speaker Series, focuses on addressing critical, foundational issues important to the development of middle school students in the Tampa Bay area.

On Wednesday, November 20, at 10 a.m., Bobby O’Donnell will be the guest speaker at Liberty Middle School. The school is located at 17400 Commerce Park Blvd., Tampa.

Bobby O’Donnell had the worst day of his life at the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing where he was stopped just short of the finish line by nearby explosions from terrorists’ bombs. Struggling through the psychological trauma of the terrorist attack, Bobby began to lose hope that he would ever be the same. A combination of chance and motivation led him to a remote jungle in Nicaragua on a run that changed the course of his life. Anguish and depression transformed into a love for life and motivation to send him on an adventure around the globe that Bobby details in his book “Running Wild.”

Students in all grades will take part in an assembly where Mr. O’Donnell will talk to them about overcoming fears and seizing opportunities in life.
