Tampa, Fla. – (November 18, 2019) – It is one of the most important jobs in our district – transporting thousands of children to school safely every morning and back home every afternoon. Hillsborough County Public Schools is looking to hire 124 bus drivers. Our district needs nearly 50 drivers to immediately fill open bus routes. Plus, our district is looking to hire drivers who can cover routes during driver absences or leaves.
It is difficult to maintain the high level of service our district and our families expect with the shortage of drivers we are facing. Our students’ education is paramount to the success of our community.
On Tuesday, November 19, our district is holding a job fair, looking for dedicated and compassionate professionals to make a positive impact on our students. The job fair will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Leto High School, located at 4409 West Sligh Avenue, Tampa.
More than 240 applicants have already registered for the hiring event. Recruiters will be available to conduct interviews for available jobs. Our district is also seeking to hire bus mechanics, food service workers, custodial operations and after-school childcare workers (for our H.O.S.T. program).
District employees are offered:
- A zero premium employee-only health insurance plan paid for by the school district
- Reduced-price child care through our district’s HOST before- and after-school program
