Tampa, Fla. – (November 18, 2019) – The next meeting of the Historical Response Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the school district's downtown office located at 901 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa.

We have not yet received the report from the ground penetrating radar scan but we hope to have the results back for this meeting.

The Historical Response Committee was formed last month in response to the possible unmarked cemetery for indigent African Americans and other citizens on the King High School property. The committee is made up of local community representatives including community groups and faith-based leaders, as well as city, county and state elected officials.

A team of geophysical technicians scanned two areas on campus – one on the south end of the property and an area on the northeast corner. The areas were scanned after we reviewed conflicting information in city, county and school district documents as to the location of the possible cemetery.

Our district leaders made this a top priority from the moment we received information from a citizen last month.
