Day of Remembrance for NASA’s fallen astronauts

Friday, January 27
10:30 a.m.

4801 E. Fowler Avenue, Tampa

John Glenn Top Gun Academy students from Stewart Middle Magnet School will honor the fallen NASA astronauts of the Shuttle Challenger, Columbia and Apollo I in a ceremony at MOSI’s Historic Tree Grove. The students will pay tribute to the three missions with a presentation and lay flowers at the “Moon Sycamore” as they announce the astronaut’s names. The “Moon Sycamore” is significant to this event because the tree grew from seeds that were on an Apollo mission to the moon.

Stewart Middle Magnet School is a nationally recognized NASA Explorer School focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education featuring the Project Lead the Way curriculum. Stewart students become independent learners and creative problem solvers ready to address the challenges of the 21st century global community.
