Tampa, Fla. – (August 7, 2017) – Students enjoying summer as part of Hillsborough County Public Schools’ HOST program will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take the field with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during training camp – joining in drills, meeting players, and watching practice – as the Bucs film an episode of HBO’s series Hard Knocks on Tuesday, August 8 from 10 a.m. to noon.

More than 50 students in the school district’s summer program will visit One Buc Place as the Buccaneers’ special guests for the day. The second- through fifth-graders will watch part of the Bucs’ practice, Buccaneers players will hold a meet-and-greet with the students, and some students are scheduled to join the players on the field for athletic drills. All of the students will eat lunch and take home a t-shirt, courtesy of the team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Hillsborough County Public Schools are continuing a longstanding partnership as the 2017-2018 school year begins. The Buccaneers support students through their sponsorship of 24 Title I elementary schools called Buccaneer Academies, providing literacy challenges and academic programming, Cheer Chats, player visits, vision screening and glasses, game day tickets and district spirit nights. The Bucs also regularly involve district students in a wide range of community and charity events. HBO’s series Hard Knocks is following the Buccaneers as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season.

HOST, which stands for Hillsborough Out of School Time, provides affordable care for nearly 13,000 students before and after school and during summer break at nearly 150 school sites across the district.

Accredited members of the media are welcome to cover the visit at the Buccaneers’ team headquarters, located at One Buccaneer Place in Tampa.
