Survey Opens for 2018-2019 Bell Schedule Options

Tampa, Fla. – (September 1, 2017) – Hillsborough County Public Schools has launched a survey to gather input from parents, students, district employees and the community on the 2018-2019 bell schedule.

The survey will be available until September 24. It offers six different bell schedule options that were chosen by the public. For more information on how the options were chosen, watch this two-minute video

Information gathered from the survey as well as the recent Bell Schedule Simulator and four upcoming public meetings will provide vital information to help the School Board as it determines school start and end times for the next school year. 

Every student deserves a full day, so the district must make changes. Thousands of students arrive late to school because the current arrival and dismissal schedule does not allow buses enough time to run their routes. Last year, 12,000 students were late to school every day.

More than 1,800 responses were received from parents, teachers and members of the community using the Bell Schedule Simulator, which closed on August 25.

Families can also attend one of four community meetings to provide input and have their questions answered by district staff. See below for the schedule of meetings.

Chamberlain High School 9/5/2017 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Strawberry Crest High School 9/7/2017 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Jefferson High School 9/14/2017 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Riverview High School 9/19/2017 6:00-7:30 p.m.

The School Board will vote on a final bell schedule on October 17 giving families nearly a year to make needed adjustments to their schedules.
