Student Showcase Their Talents and Their Interests Through Exhibits at the Florida State Fair

Tampa, Fla. – (February 8, 2018) – Students in Hillsborough County Public Schools will once again be highlighted through exhibits and live performances, as the 2018 Florida State Fair gets underway. 

On Friday, February 9, during Student Day at the Fair, there will be live musical performances from 1:30 - 3 p.m. and opportunities all day to see students’ displays in the Florida Center building and Botanical Gardens Courtyard.  

Students will also showcase their artwork and imagination at two displays in the Florida Center. One display, Preparing Students for Life, includes 19 exhibits that reinforce the district’s vision, and for the third year, there will be a Salute to Black History display which is comprised of 28 exhibits from schools and the community that feature local and national African American legacies in film, stage and screen.

The 2018 Florida State Fair lasts for 12 days, beginning Thursday, February 8 and ending on Monday, February 19, and includes several special Student Days. 4-H and FFA students will be admitted FREE with ID or jacket on February 10 and 17.

All Hillsborough County Public Schools students will receive a FREE ticket to the Fair for Friday, February 9. Most of the schools in the district will be closed on Friday. For a full list of the schools that will be open Friday, February 9, please visit our website at

Elementary students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult to attend the fair using their free ticket. Students in grades 6-12 must present a valid Hillsborough County school-issued photo identification or equivalent as determined by Florida State Fair officials in order to use their free ticket. Students entering after 6 p.m. must be accompanied by an adult, 21 years of age or older. This chaperone also will receive free admission.
