HCPS Students Learn about Amazing Opportunities for Future Careers School Board Vice Chair Tamara Shamburger Hosts Workforce Connections Career Training Fair and Open House

Tampa, Fla. – (April 6, 2018) – High school students from Hillsborough County Public Schools, their families and the community have an opportunity to learn more about the amazing programs that are available through our Hillsborough Technical Colleges (HTC), by attending the upcoming Workforce Connections Career Training Fair and HTC Open House.
The event, hosted by School Board Vice Chair Tamara Shamburger, is on Saturday, April 7, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Erwin Technical College campus located at 2010 E. Hillsborough Avenue, Tampa.
HTC offers 37 postsecondary certificate programs that prepare adult students for employment in health careers, business marketing, industrial education and public service. This event will allow visitors to explore the HTC programs and speak with representatives from the school district, along with professionals from the business community. Students will learn about current demands for real-world job skills as they take the next steps towards college or a career.
Tours of Erwin’s technical training classrooms will be available during the event as well.
The district’s technical colleges are located throughout Hillsborough County and offer technical training in areas ranging from Veterinary Assisting to Welding and Cosmetology. Other programs available include Culinary Arts, Programs for Adults with Disabilities, Accounting Operations, Fire Fighter I & II, Building Trades, Automotive Service Technician, and many others. There are also numerous Health Care training programs offered at various HTC campuses such as Surgical Technology, Practical Nursing, Dental Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, and EMT. HTC also has apprenticeship programs available.
