Tampa, Fla. – (April 12, 2018) – Students from Hillsborough County Public Schools are taking part in a forum designed to highlight careers in health-related fields.

WHAT: Workforce Connections Health Career Leadership Forum, sponsored by the Council for Educational Change and Hillsborough County Public Schools

WHEN/WHERE: Session I – Thursday, April 5, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Keiser University
Session II - Thursday, April 12, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Erwin Technical College
Session III - Wednesday, April 25, 9 a.m.-noon, Aparicio-Levy Technical College

WHO: Teams of four from 12 district high schools (48 total)
(Each team is comprised of the Principal or Assistant Principal, 2 students and an instructor or school counselor)

WHY: This three-part forum is designed to increase awareness of careers in Health-related fields at each of the participating schools.  Teams will be prepared to return to their sites after the Forum is completed, and share information that they have gained.

Each of the three sessions is organized to lead the school teams through a series of trainings that will provide them with current occupational information about high-demand careers in the health-care field.  Guest speakers from the industry will address the teams at each session; teams will tour health-related programs offered at the host facility; participants will share in panel discussions with current healthcare providers, employers, and educators, and finally, each team will be responsible for the creation of a “train-the-trainer” presentation, to be previewed during the final session and then brought back to their home school site and shared.~
