While the Board is committed to the effective use of technology to both enhance the quality of student learning and the efficiency of Board operations, it is the policy of the Board that the use of all District technology resources is a privilege, not a right. Additionally, it is the policy of the Board that District technology resources are to be used exclusively in pursuit of the District's mission/vision/strategic objectives. It also recognizes that safeguards have to be established to ensure that the Board's investment in both hardware and software is achieving the benefits of technology and inhibiting negative side effects.
The Superintendent is directed to establish administrative procedures that:
|A.||Provide for proper acquisition of technology
|B.||Require compatibility with the State comprehensive management information system
|C.||Provide guidance to staff and students concerning appropriate and ethical use of computers, other equipment, and any networks that may be established
|D.||Govern the introduction of technology systems, hardware, software, and services into the District's wide area network of local area networks
Furthermore, the Superintendent shall establish appropriate procedures to inform both staff and students about disciplinary actions that will be taken if Board technology and/or networks are abused in any way or used in an illegal or unethical manner.
